The Teacher

    I am a teacher at Bowman Middle School. This is my seventeenth year of teaching 7th and 8th math. I am a native of Mitchell County and as a student I attended Gouge, Bowman and Mitchell High school. Following Mitchell, I attend Mayland and Appalachian State where I received my BS in middle school education. I can't remember a time I didn't want to be a teacher. In fact, I believe teaching pick me, rather than me picking it.

The Mom

I am a mom of two wonderful boys. Ryan is eleven years old and a student at Bowman. He loves sports and is a talented athlete. Ryan is a great student and consistently makes top grades. Royce is eight years old and a student at Gouge School. He too loves sports and is full of energy. Royce is a sweet and loving boy who enjoys drawing and playing on the computer.

The Wife

I married Russell McKinney on June 25, 1994. I truly believe he is the man God chose for me. He is the pastor of Disciple Road Church in Spruce Pine and a published author. God has blessed us with a great marriage and a loving family.
